Adrian Hubbard – Principal of Langley Hill Independent School
I grew up in north west England with twin brothers near to Liverpool. My high school education took place in comprehensive schools in Lancashire and Suffolk. I took a BSc and PhD degrees in Leicester and Birmingham respectively, prior to post-doctoral research directed towards solving biochemistry and molecular biology problems at the University of Colorado.
I returned to a the UK to a position involving biochemistry research at the University of Sheffield. I remained there for one year prior to undertaking a PGCE course at The University of Bath. My high school teaching began in the City of Birmingham. Since then, I have taught in single sex secondary schools- both types, selective grammar schools, comprehensive schools, schools with academically excellent records and one that was just coming out of special measures. I have taught in schools in the state sector and in the independent sector in the UK and most recently in 2 Chinese run schools in China. During this time, I have served in the roles of teacher, head of department, deputy head teacher and principal.
I am happily married with 3 children, two of whom are now working. I am very excited by the opportunity to work in the new Langley Hill Independent school. Both my wife Xue and I are looking forward very much to becoming a part of the new school community and also of Kings Langley.
